"Artistry in Wood"

Wood Carvings by Rudy Kuyten

The exhibit included exquisite woodcarvings of biblical scenes and religious themes in mahogany, basswood and other exotic woods. Artist Rudy Kuyten's theme for this exhibit was the love, compassion and joy that will be needed by our society during its journey into the year 2,000 and beyond.

"For the Journey into 2000 and Beyond"

As described by the artist, "This 5x6 foot work is carved on the large cross and becomes the crossroads of life where we meet. The Christ figure is in and on the center of the roads. He gives for our journey in and beyond 2000 the key to receiving a heart and spirit enabling us to go together. The Bread He holds is the key to His Heart and our own heart and neighbors and the cup seemingly floating to you and me is with His covenant of always being with us eternally. The work of caring for each other, carrying the lights direct us to the new world of order and love seen in the right upper part of the carving."
